    Are you talking about multicastmap.txt? It goes in the /conf folder. There is a readme.html file in the package, and there are folders in the package that mirror Wowza to show where the files involved in this package are placed.

    You can use VLC to playback a multicast stream. You can only use multicast on a intranet that supports it, it does not work on the internet. What are you trying to do? Perhaps multicast is not what you are looking for.

    hey Richard,
    in the readme file in the multicast publish it's written

    Setup and application for live streaming and add the following module definition as the last entry in the <Modules> list:

    <Module>
    <Name>ModuleMulticastPublish</Name>
    <Description>ModuleMulticastPublish</Description>
    <Class>com.wowza.wms.plugin.multicastpublish.ModuleMulticastPublish</Class>
    </Module>

    where do i need to put it?
    not in the relevent xml?

    and after i do a stream with my sdp file it's written
    This AddOn package is a system to enable automatic multicast publishing of incoming streams. The included module monitors incoming publishing streams and based on the configuration will start new multicast output streams. The module will also create an SDP file in the [install-dir]/applications/[application]/sdp folder for each running multicast stream that can be used to play the stream using any media player that support multicast RTP playback (such as QuickTime player and VLC player).

    but i cant find the file.

    The Module is placed in a Application.xml

    /conf/[app-name]/Application.xml

    It should be last in the list of Modules. There are 4 in the default file.

    Are you sure you need multicast? There are other tutorials here:

    I don't know how to help without knowing what the problem is. If you need more hands-on help you can request a list of independent consultants by writing to support@wowza.com

    Hi Richard
    I really appriciate your help , let me try to explane again the problem i have (and sorry for my english.)
    We are triyng to verify if wowza server can be used as a video server for multicast networks (privat networks with ~5000 users).
    The first test we would like to do is to connect a unicast rtsp stream(h264) from an IP camera to wowza and to play the multicast stream that should be generated by wowza by VLC player.
    I followed the instructions as described in the MulticastPublish readme.html
    my questions are:
    1. in the readme file it says that wowza will generate SDP file:
    "The module will also create an SDP file in the [install-dir]/applications/[application]/sdp folder for each running multicast stream that can be used to play the stream using any media player that support multicast RTP playback (such as QuickTime player and VLC player).
    "
    i cant see that any sdp file is created under ([install-dir]/applications/live1/sdp) (live1 is the stream application name) - what am i'm doing wrong?

    2. in the VLC player i wrote : rtsp://192.168.1.9:1935/live1/cam.stream?multicastplay - As a result , I see the video but I dont think its a multicast stream
    since i get the same result also when the multicast plugin was removed.

    3. I'm not sure what I should write in the multicastmap file - can you help me with it based on the addresses described in the previos section

    one last remark : I' using trail 180 days version - is there are any limitation that might cause some of the issues ?

    Thank you very much

    Matan
