    Default connect.password vs. publish.password - protecting upstream

    hello!

    I followed the guide http://www.wowza.com/forums/content....-password-file

Now I ve a connect.password. In Wirecast I ve add "?user&pass" to the URL. So, it seems to work.

But I am wondering, there `s already a publish.password in conf/. For what is that?

Reading the name I would guess its exactly for that I would do: protect the upstream ("publish").

publish.password is used for authenticating the RTMP publishing interface, done on a per application basis.

Take a look at the Media Security AddOn. The User's Guide is part of the zip file. The username/password that you set in publish.password will be the same credentials that you enter when prompted by your encoder.
