    Default Can't Play back AdaptiveBitrate

    Hello,

I would like to know how can I fix the problem I'm having to playback a VOD configured with Adaptive Bitrate. My Application.xml is default one but with this mod.:

    <Streams>
    <StreamType>default</StreamType>
    <StorageDir>${com.wowza.wms.context.VHostConfigHome}/content/videos</StorageDir>

In this Dir ([Install-dir]/Content/Video) I have placed the .smil and the 3 files downloaded from this tutorial:

http://www.wowza.com/forums/content.php?35#ABR (the ones that are iPhone compatible).

I'm able to play this URLs
    rtsp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1935/vod/bigbuckbunnyiphone_300.mp4
    rtsp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1935/vod/bigbuckbunnyiphone_400.mp4
    rtsp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1935/vod/bigbuckbunnyiphone_600.mp4

But when I try to playback this:
    rtsp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1935/vod/smil:bigbuckbunnyiphone.smil

    I get this:
MediaReaderFactory: getInstance: Missing definition for smil

    and when I try:
    rtsp://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:1935/vod/bigbuckbunnyiphone.smil

    I get this:

    bigbuckbunnyiphone.smil MediaReaderH264.open[2]: java.lang.Exception: QTUtils.parseQTMediaContainer: File is missing 'moov' atom.

Is there a way to playback this? I'm running wowza 2.2.4.
Another question is: The switching from a video to another happens automaticaly in the same playback?

    Thanks in advanced.

Try putting the .smil and content into this directory:

    [Install-dir]/Content/

    Hi ChaosMonkey,

thanks for your reply I will try but I'm afraid this will not work because I have set the default storage dir in "[Install-dir]/content/videos" so I suppose this is not the problem. If I have my default storate in "[Install-dir]/content/videos" I put my .smil and my videos which the smil is pointing to in there. If this was the problem, It will throw an error message like "File not found" or something like that.

    Thanks anyway.

    Doesn't Works..

    My questions are:
Is possible to playback via rtsp?? Or should be played via other way?
This Adaptive Bitrate is suppossed to select a video from multiple files depending on the bandwith...┐Will this ABR switch the video automatically while I'm playing it, adapting Bitrate?

    Thanks

Ahh, sorry. For RTSP setup, have a look through this if you haven't already: http://www.wowza.com/forums/content.php?62

Adaptive bitrate streaming is not support over RTSP. RTSP is single bitrate only.

Ok Charlie, many thanks. And I suppose that with http, wowza will switch automatically the video that it's being played. Won't It?

    Thanks

Yes, with Flash HDS, Apple HLS, Smooth Streaming and RTMP we support adaptive bitrate streaming.
