Thread: RTSP sample application configuration

  1. #1

    Default RTSP sample application configuration

I have an ec2 server setup to serve the same sample.mov file as on the rtsp sample page.

For whatever reason the wowza sample rtsp url works fine over my NAT.. but when I try to hit my ec2 server the play fails.

I was wondering if I could get the Application.xml file for that application and maybe any specific setting changes that were made to the firewall or otherwise. I've already opened up 554 over TCP and all the UDP ports.

    Running 3.1.1

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Jake

Are you using port 1935 in the rtsp url? If not, you might need to open tcp port 554 in the Security Group you are using for that instance, or use 1935

Using port 554 and it's opened up on the firewall.

    Hi Jake,

Does your EC2 instance stream RTMP? If so, how about rtsp://[EC2-IP]:1935/app/stream_name?

The problem is not streaming generically from the app.. it's when the request comes over a NAT'd device. It works fine from the Wowza configured ec2 box.. but when I setup my app seemingly in the same way.. it fails.

Been through all of the rudimentary stuff.. but still not dice.

I might be able to help if I knew if you could stream from your EC2 box to your internal NATed computer using RTMP and RTSP. And also, what the URIs are that you're trying.

Yes.. NAT'd computers work fine.. just Android (2.3.1) devices behind the NAT.

I would really just like to look at the configs for the application to see if/what the differences are and go from there.

    Jake,

Not sure which Application.xml you are asking to see. Isn't it more like a problem of mapping ports in the network?

The ports in the network don't change depending on which service the app connects to. The sample rtsp stream hosted on your demo server works.. but the one hosted on our server fails.

The link on this page specifically: http://www.wowza.com/html/mobile.html

I've opened up tons of ports/protocols.. but with the same result. Hence why at this point I'd like to dig deeper and look at the config of the application that works. I agree this shouldn't be this hard.. but something is missing and I'm not able to figure it out.

    Thanks,
    Jake
