    Default Live 608/708 captioning

Does WMS3 support 608/708 captioning data for SPTS ingest?

How exactly do you expect this to work? How are the captions inserted into the stream?

Which stream are you referring? The output streams? All of the usual ABR technologies (Smooth/HDS/HLS) support captioning in one way or another.

What I am asking is: If I am pushing an MPEG-2 transport stream to Wowza, does it recognize 608/708 data embedded in the VANC and can it do something with it (pass it along to HLS TS chunks, write a DXFP sparse track for Smooth, create markers for Flash, etc)?

A streaming server that can ingest a standard Mpeg2-ts with embedded 608/708 captions and "(pass it along to HLS TS chunks, write a DXFP sparse track for Smooth, create markers for Flash, etc)" would definitely fill a need in the marketplace.

cwalker, you can contact me for information on this process. We are experts in closed captioning and streaming and have developed these tools for use in our CDN. We demonstrated much of what you are discussing recently at a professional broadcast show in Las Vegas. we also have tools to extract and create caption files.
