Thread: HTTPProvider for dynamic VOD playlist over HLS?

Default HTTPProvider for dynamic VOD playlist over HLS?

I'm sure this is becoming a more requested operation, but I haven't tried it yet: sending a request for multiple VOD clips to play seamlessly over HLS as one M3U8 request. For example, I want to play videos A, B, and C in a continuous fashion, but I don't want to rely on client-side JavaScript to cycle from one clip to the next because of loading delays with each HLS manifest. I'd prefer to send an HTTP request to Wowza that enumerates a playlist, and Wowza then constructs an M3U8 file that points to the different videos in a single manifest. Is this possible? Has anyone built a module to do this?

    Robert,

This is not support as yet. It is definitely a planned feature, but I don't have a time frame.

Richard, thanks for the reply. Is this something that would need to be modified at the core of Wowza? Or do you believe it's possible now with custom module development using the current server tech?

    Robert,

The former: Wowza core adds and changes involved.
