Thread: on seek buffering

    Default on seek buffering

I'm having some issues, the ondemand streaming with a HD file if we click to forward the stream there is a few seconds delay using our wowza server, if I stream the same file through normal progressive steaming, there is no issue: (simple progressive streaming, no wowza, no rtmp) (with our wowza server)
    the file is:
    Duration: 00:03:25.68, start: 0.000000, bitrate: 4761 kb/s
    Stream #0:0(und): Video: h264 (High) (avc1 / 0x31637661), yuv420p, 1920x1080,
    4605 kb/s, 25 fps, 25 tbr, 1k tbn, 50 tbc
    Stream #0:1(und): Audio: aac (mp4a / 0x6134706D), 44100 Hz, stereo, s16, 151 kb/s

    the server is a E5620 16 cores, 48 giga of RAM, 1Gbps

is it perhaps misconfiguration on my wowza?

It is very high bitrate. Try reducing bitrate, that could improve seek time.

It is hard to compare rtmp and progressive download. You can't seek forward in progressive download to a point beyond what is downloaded, so there is no comparison there except that rtmp works and progressive download doesn't. Seeking to a point that has been downloaded will tend to be faster for progressive download than seek in RTMP which has no local cache
