Thread: Wowza EC2 + Cloudfront = it works !

  1. #1

    Default Wowza EC2 + Cloudfront = it works !

We have already deployed FMS + Cloudfront and it's quite straight forward and we started out test with our existing wowza box

We are running 3 Wowza m1.xlarge in Singapore Region and use all 3 servers for CloudFront Distributions ( Download instead of Streaming )

We only stream HLS from our box to serve Android and IOS devices.

Tested on varios androids ( that support HLS ) and iOS and it was working very well.

If you need pointers/questions on how we use wowza + cloudfront, I'm happily to help. Just reply this thread or PM me.

Now the new headache is coming, how to process Cloudfront HTTP Access Logs...

Out of curiosity I have a couple of questions.

Are using Cloudfront Distributions for live streams, on demand or both?

Are you using your m1.xlarge servers to serve browser requests (html5 video/flash/silverlight), or do you only stream to mobile devices? Are your m1.xlarge servers load balancing the same content or all hosting different applications?

CF only for LiveStreaming for HLS (m3u8) only. No HDS involved.
Origin Server is EC2 m1.xlarge for Wowza Transcoding and Repeaters from our client's Wowza Origin
Hosting is actually at our colo server back in Malaysia

How have you overcome the fact that wowza adds a unique wowza session id as a query string to the end of each request, this means each client connecting gets another unique wowza session which means the the requests are actually just proxied

We do not yet have docs or support Cloudfront. We will post again when there is an update.
