RAID 0 or 1+0 is recommended for the performance benefit. Here is an article on RAID levels:

"Whether RAID 0+1 is preferable to RAID 10 depends on the details of the application in question, such as what level of performance is required during degraded operation"

it depends on how many disk do U have ? if more than 4 , then raid 5 is good choice .. im using raid6 on 15 disks chases and its very quick .. On one server im using software raid5 with 4 disks .. its 4x 2TB .. in raid5 its 6TB , in raid 10 its only 4TB ..

this would be on one server with 2 - 500 GB SATA Disks

on 2 disks u can use only RAID 0 or 1 .. Raid 0 (stripe) is for speed .. but unsecure .. Raid 1 (mirror) is for security, but speed ist only for reading .. write is slow , like one single disk ..

    for raid 10, u need minimaly 4 disks ..

    so i got this:

    Hard drive:
SATA III Hardware RAID 10 (RAID 1+0) 1000.00 GB
SATA III Hardware RAID 10 (RAID 1+0) 1000.00 GB
SATA III Hardware RAID 10 (RAID 1+0) 1000.00 GB
SATA III Hardware RAID 10 (RAID 1+0) 1000.00 GB

1 TB space, it runs faster + redundant...correct?

    4x1TB in RAID 10 will be capacity 2TB .. fast + safe
