    Default Buffer-Problems while restreaming shoutcast

    Hi there
I played around with all the buffer-settings i found in the doc but it did not affect my problem...

We are restreaming icecast to wowza and listen to the rtmp-stream with different flash-players. If i use flow-player with default values (i guess buffer 2s), the stream starts almost immediately. if i increase this value to 10's, it takes these 10s to start the music.
This happens even if there are already customers connected to the stream

I wonder if there is a way to burst out these 10 seconds (increase a buffer in wowza) to quicken up the start of a stream.

    thank you!

    Chris,

Wowza does burst to fill RTMP buffer, before throttling to the stream bitrate. If you want the stream to start faster, decrease this buffer.

    Hi Richard
That did not solve my problem. Although i was able to solve it myself after a bit of try&error:

I changed the "maxliveaudiolatency" setting in the Streams.xml in the "liverepeater-edge"-part. This value is now down to one second and stream starts a lot faster than before.

Could you tell me if this could cause more "rebufferings" while playing?

    Thanks
    Chris

    Chris,

What do you mean by rebuffering? Choppy playback in the client? That is usually because the bitrate is greater than the bandwidth between Wowza and the client you are testing. Here is how to look at what is available:
