rtmp dump programs

so after adding 4 wowza security modules for our VOD subscription video site, a paying customer just sent in this email:

"I used [random dump program]

I simply ran the program and then played the videos and it dumped them all to disk."

so what is the real story? what CAN actually stop this other the DRM…nothing?

Please open a support ticket. Zip up and send /conf and /logs folders from this server to support@wowza.com. Indicate which application is of concern. Include a link to this thread for reference.

Richard

No, which Wowza Application, as defined by folders in /applications/[app-name] and /conf/[app-name].

Richard

You have to use RTMPE or RTMPS protocol to encrypt. The MediaSecurity addon includes a Module or Property setting that will make one of those required.

SecureToken does not encrypt by itself. It is just a way of validating the player that is being used to play your videos.

Richard

Please stop posting these links. We have asked that you start a support ticket to handle this.

Richard

Maybe, but we would rather not edit user’s posts.

Richard

Thanks, Bob.

Richard

Hi azrilnazli,

I’m a dev for bobmane

We have apply all security as describe at the article you given.

But this application http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/rtmp_dump_helper.html still can dump the VOD

– quote from RTMPDumpHelper –

When you run RTMPDumpHelper utility, it automatically detects your Web browser and attaches to it a small dll file - RTMPDumpHelper.dll

When the attached dll of RTMPDumpHelper detects that RTMP connection (TCP Port 1935) is initiated by your Web browser, it automatically redirects the connection to your own computer (connection to 127.0.0.1)

The proxy of RTMPDump toolkit (rtmpsuck.exe) receives the redirected connection and downloads the RTMP stream to your hard drive. It also sends the downloaded RTMP stream back to your Web browser, so you can continue watching the RTMP video stream while it’s downloaded by RTMPDump toolkit.

Hi rrlanham,

Yes, we are using the RTMPE protocol

But look like the RTMPDumpHelper http://www.nirsoft.net/utils/rtmp_dump_helper.html

combine with the RTMPDump http://rtmpdump.mplayerhq.hu/ also support for RTMPE

"All forms of RTMP are supported, including rtmp://, rtmpt://, rtmpe://, rtmpte://, and rtmps://. "

We config the Application just like the tutorial at here http://iiibuntu.wordpress.com/2011/06/22/testing-wowza-vod-media-security-to-protect-vod-contents/
