Default Streaming to android device Live video from wowza...

    Hi all!

I have a wowza server, everything works fine... I'm using it to record live streams and to stream the recorded files and the live streams also. I can stream to iOS devices if the stream is live or not using different URLs but I'm having problems with android devices. If the video I'm streaming is not live I can see it without problem in this url (rtsp://stream.myserver.com:1935/vod/name_of_video ). If I try to watch that video while it's being recorded the html5 player gives me a not found video... so I'm sure I'm missing the target or something like that... I've already check the tutorial but I couldn't find an answer.

Also I've noticed I can playback the recorded stream while using 3g... I have to be on wifi to be able to watch it? I'm sure this must be some cellphone carrier problem??

    Thanks for the help!

You can't playback a file that is being recorded. The exception to that is if you are appending to a file, then you can play the part of the file that was previously recorded, but not the part that is being recorded at that moment.

But wait, in iOS I'm able to watch a live stream and at the same time that same stream is being recorded at wowza... I can't do this on android?

Maybe cupertino chunks work in this case, I would have to test. RTMP vod playback won't work, and I think RTSP would be the same.

just tested the cupertino chunks (http://stream.myserver.com:1935/live...e/playlist.m3u) and it didn't work...

So there is no way to play a live recording video from an android device??

You can play the live stream but not the file as vod while it is recording.

so, I should be able to play the live stream using this rtsp://[wowza-address]:1935/[app-name]/[stream-name]] source for an html5 video tag?

No, in Android I think it is just directly in the browser, not using HTML5 video tag

    Hey Richard,

I got it to work using:

    <video id="video" width="300" controls="controls" src="rtsp://stream.myserver.com:1935/live/videoName"></video>

    Live to the android

    Bye
