    Default Strange Firewall Issue

    Hi All,

we used to use Wowza 2 with no issues. Since upgrading to Wowza 3, we experience a delay in streaming of 6-20 seconds.

The server is using windows firewall and all ports have been opened as per the set up guide.

If the firewall is totally disabled, streaming starts immediately. Nothing is being logged in the windows firewall log to suggest ports are being blocked.

We've tried both flow player and JW player on the client side and the delay remains.

Streaming to an html5 client using port 1935 shows no delay.

Any help in resolving this issue would be appreciated.

An update on this. I changed the vhost file to use port 80 and this dropped the delay to around 1.5 seconds.

I next used the IP rather than URL and this removed all delay.

The delay suggests a DNS lookup timeout/delay.

Perhaps the primary DNS server for the domain name in use is not responding so it is taking 5seconds plus to timeout.

    Hi Andrew,

    I think you're right.

The network guys are denying this though, but everything I've checked points in that direction!
