Default New LiveStreamRecord Functionality on Wowza 3.5

    Hi All,

I am preparing for an upgrade from wowza 3.x to wowza 3.5. So far the new features look great.

I am especially glad to see that LiveStreamRecord has been integrated into Wowza, but I have a few questions that will greatly affect my upgrade proccess:

HTTP Provider Functionality - The previous versions of LSR had both the interface, and the HTTP Provider for accessing functionality over http. Originally, the only available actions over HTTP were startRecording, and stopRecording. This was frustrating, as in order to effectively use the provider, I needed to know if and what streams were recording, and if they were in fact really recording.

I wrote a few modules in the IDE to accomplish this, but they never really worked too well.

As I can see from the documentation, the new Web Interface for LiveStreamRecord does everything I need, but I need to do this stuff programmatically over HTTP:

    I.E.

    http://wowzaserver:8086/livestreamrecord?app=appName&streamname=streamName&action=startRecording&format=2&output=/home/wowza/content/recordings/fileName.mp4

    http://wowzaserver:8086/livestreamrecord?app=appName&streamname=streamName&action=stopRecording&format=2&output=/home/wowza/content/recordings/fileName.mp4

    http://wowzaserver:8086/livestreamrecord?app=appName&streamname=streamName&action=getRecorders
The original LiveStreamRecord package had instructions and reference for doing this. The new Wowza 3.5 has no documentation about this functionality.

*Does the New Live Stream Record Function has this capability (Control via HTTP calls rather than the web interface) ?
*Are the new functionalities of Live Stream Record (See whats streaming, what recording etc..) available via HTTP calls?
*If so, where's the documentation? How can I use it?

*If this is not a feature, can I obtain the JAVA source for the new module so I can add this functionality?

Just to spare [Richard and Charlie] a little time answering this, support got back to me on this via email.

The HTTP functionality still exists, and has some new params added as well.

Still missing in the Module, however, is the ability to check recordings over HTTP.

I would like to see this feature added, or get my paws on the JAVA source for the mod so I can tweak/extend it a bit. I can of course use the earlier version to work with, but then I'd loose the new capabilities which are quite usefull.

How HTTP request works? I'm preparing for an upgrade from Wowza 2.x to Wowza 3.5.
I'm testing (through Wowza 3.5 trial version) HTTP request to setting up start/stop recording but it redirect me to the web page: it doesn't work!

I followed all the guidelines but when i put into the browser the url query such as http://[wowza-address]:8086/livestre...startRecording, it doesn't start automatically recording but it redirects me to the livestream record server web page.

If you are using Wowza 3.5.0.0, apply patch 2 and that should fix it:

    Hi All,

We are using Wowza 3.6.1 and we have the same problem : using the url to start the livestream record redirects automatically to the livestream record server web page. Any Ideas ?

    Thanks

    Sebastien
