Default Maximum input live stream ?

    hi all,
    i have a Server :
    HP Proliant DL380p G8: Dual Intel Xeon E5 2620, 16 GB DDR3, 4 x 300 GB HDD 10K, 1GB NIC

I would like to know that this server can handle 40 input live streaming (1 mp) and 1000 user ?
I also refer to the following thread: http://www.wowza.com/forums/showthre...ent-Connection
    but also do not know.

    Thanks for all your help.

    Hi
You should be able to handle 40 inbound streams but the number of concurrent users will be limited by the bandwidth available.
You will get somewhere along the lines of 800 clients connected if the stream is 1 Mbps.

    hi Jason,
    thanks for your reply,
is there any way to achieve 40 channels 2.5 Mbps and 1000 clients ?

Can i upgrade to 4 NIC or buy more server?

    Thanks.

    Hi
It would be much cheaper to bind 4 NIC's together for the required bandwidth but you'll have to support the load balancing across the NICs which can have its own problems.

I think that you're better off with another server with 2 NICs each and load balancing across them from a resilience point of view.
If for any reason the server goes down due to a power outage or hardware failing you wouldn't loose all your connected clients just half (20 channels and 500 clients).

Default Clarification on # of input streams

We have a case of 30 (h.264) input 720p sources.
We would like to transrate it & encrypt it with unique user id key.

Say I restrict each video source to 2 transrated streams (720p & VGA) at the output
& each mobile user can choose either of these streams.

Would like to support 10 mobile users.

30 video sources each transrated to 20 streams (10 copies each of 720p & VGA)
Each pair of [720p & VGA] transrated stream is encrypted with unique user id key.
So the 20 streams would support 10 mobile users.

Is this doable? If so, what would be the recommendation?
