Thread: Storing recordings as different user, not root

    Default Storing recordings as different user, not root

    Hello,

    I'm using StreamType live-record-lowlatency and <StorageDir>${com.wowza.wms.context.VHostConfigHome}/content/${com.wowza.wms.context.Application}/${com.wowza.wms.context.ApplicationInstance}</StorageDir>. All applicationinstance folders and the recording contained therein, is created as user root on linux. Is it possible to have wowza still run as root, but when it creates folders and files for recordings to use another less privileged regular user I can configure?

    Thanks,

    BB

    Hi,

    I don't think so, not a built-in way in any case.

    Hi Richard,

    Thanks for your response.

    Would it be possible with a module?

    Cheers,

    Hi
    You could use the live stream record API and when the recording is complete you could change ownership of the file to a specific user in your module.
    As far as I'm aware that is possible but I haven't written any code to do that myself.

    We're thinking about running wowza as a normal user with special privileges to open low ports as explained here:

    Anybody got experience doing this? Yae/Nae's?

    @Charlie,

    Did you ever figure out if this could work: http://www.wowza.com/forums/showthre...or-443-(Linux)

    Thanks,
