Thread: outofmemory errors in serverStats log

Default outofmemory errors in serverStats log

    Hi,

We have enabled serverStats in the log4j config. Every now and then java GC outofmemory errors show in the stats log.
How can we avoid any errors showing up in the stats log?

    Thank you

    Hi
Are you also getting these errors in the Access log?
    Has the server been tuned?

You can find a tuning guide here if needed,
    http://www.wowza.com/forums/content....ormance-tuning

I'd recommend checking the setenve.sh and VHost.xml against the tuning guide to be sure.
A common tuning error is to set the available RAM for Wowza to be the total RAM in the machine but you should always leave at least 1GB of RAM for the operating system.

    Hi

I'm not sure if the clients server has been tuned, but i'm wondering why errors are showing up in a stats log, they should show up in the error log/access log.
They ftp the stats log to us which is where I found the issue.

    Hi
Does that mean that they are not showing up in the Access/Error log?
I'm not sure why they are showing up in the stats log either, can you post the stats log that you have?

Is the server tuned? You should review the tuning guide

    Hi,

Just to clarify, that is a clients server and we sent him documentation on tuning.
Regardless, we are not trying to fix the outofmemory issue, I'm more interested in finding out why "errors" are showing up in a "stats" log
Is there some threshold we can use in the stats appender or some value in CategoryExclude to not log errors in it (since technically all these errors are supposed to be logged in the error.log

The difference between the stats and access appenders is just the fields. You can set a Threshold, but it excludes in the wrong direction for you. The INFO threshold includes WARN and ERROR messages. The WARN Threshold excludes INFO messages, as in the error appender.
