    Default Live streaming help

I am new to wowza server and trying to set up a live stream. I am using a epiphan DVI broadcaster in which i selected rtsp announce and gave the host as [wowza-ip-address]. The encode gave me a link of the sdp file rtsp://**.**.***.11:554/stream.sdp. where should i put this link in wowza to accept the live streaming?

How will i know the video is being published to wowza?

    Please help

    Thanks

    Hi,

Take a look at this tutorial on How to publish and play a live stream (MPEG-TS based encoder). I think this is the information you need.

I followed the instructions given in
    http://www.wowza.com/forums/content.php?38

I took the sdp file given by the broadcaster and copied into the content folder of wowza. I started the stream from streammanager.

But i am getting these messages repeatedly

    INFO server comment - RTPMediaCaster.streamTimeout[7068421:live/_definst_:cds.sd

I verified the reason for this in the forum support. I tried streaming the live videos to ports 1935, 554 and 5006. Nothing worked, it is still giving the same error.
Can you suggest any methods to know the exact cause of the error.

    Thanks

    Hi Richard,

Thanks for the info. As i didnot figure out earlier of how to work with RTSP announce, i used RTP unicast to wowza address and then followed the steps in http://www.wowza.com/forums/content.php?38

encoder is able to send data to wowza, but i am not able to stream it through wowza. I will try the method suggested by you with RTSP announce, but was curious about the cause of above error and how can i resolve it?

It looks like UDP ports are blocked. You should allow all UDP ports in your server firewall and make sure they are mapped to your server if you are behind a NAT or connected to a router.

    And follow this guide:
    http://www.wowza.com/forums/content....-RTP-streaming

And follow the RTSP announce guide for that encoder.

We have already done the above mentioned setup. We are able to stream video on demand from wowza successfully. But we are facing the udp ports problem for live streaming. Any ideas on why it could be?

Here is another article on this subject, that covers the UDP ports that must be open.

    http://www.wowza.com/forums/content....P-RTP-playback

It's not just the firewall, if the Wowza server is connected to a router you have to port forward the UDP ports. You can look up your router in portforward.com

    Hi Richard,

I tried everything but nothing came to help.
    Here are the more details.

    Publish Stream tab of encoder
Publish: Using RTP/UDP push (Selected from List of values)
    Destination IP: [wowza ip]
Audio port: 6000 (Not able to modify)
    Video port: 1935

After publishing. Here is the info given to me.

    Live broadcast: http://10.166.123.11/preview.cgi

    Video: H.264 1280x720@30 2.00 Mbps
Audio: Linear PCM 22kHz mono 353 kbps
    Total: 2.35 Mbps
    Actual encoder frame rate: 30.0
    RTSP stream: rtsp://10.166.123.11:554/stream.sdp
    ASF stream: http://10.166.123.11:1881/stream.asf
    Flash stream: http://10.166.123.11:1881/stream.flv
    RTP unicast stream: http://10.166.123.11:1881/cds.sdp

    Connections
Stream name Client IP Bitrate Bytes transmitted
    cds.sdp wowzip 2380 166702 KBytes

I copied this cds.sdp in wowza content folder and started the live streaming from streammanager. I am getting the bind and unbind error. We are able to successfully stream videos of vod from port 1935. So i believe port is not an issue here. Can you suggest. Thanks

Please let me know if i can provide more details.

We tried for different ports and it is working fine now.

    Thanks for your efforts
