    Default closed caption help

Ok i have a Harmonic promedia encoder which gives me an RTMP output , I can pass video and audio no problem , but it dosnt produce an ontextdata event if I am understanding this right , the live stream is from satelite and this give mpeg2 transport stream so video audio and data are incoming in the form of pids.

on the RTMP output I see

is there any way i can get it to look for (unknown0x0)) format 0?

Do you expect that there is captions in this stream already? Is it CEA-608 captions? You can't convert those with the CloseCaptionLive package:

Its not CEA-608 but EBU subtitling , its carried as a seperate Pid in a transport stream but a set top box would normaly insert this back in on line 21, so this isnt strictly coming in with video as i think CEA-608 , (sorry these are new standards for me , in uk)

Sorry to Hijack this thread, but this is the _opposite_ of what I believed the functionality to be. Are you saying that if my stream has CEA-608 data (mine does) that Wowza can in turn take that 608 data and turn it into onTextData events for Flash?

Again, thanks for any clarity here - the docs seem to indicate the opposite.

Typo there, sorry, should be "can't convert those". Wowza will pass them through to HLS streams. Wowza converts onTextData to CEA-608.

In 3.5.x, we can take onTextData --> CEA608.

In 3.6 (not yet released), we will be able to do either direction.

    Scott:

Thanks so much for this - we will be _anxiously_ awaiting the 3.6 version, as our captions are in CEA-608 format in our live media streams. I doubt this is the case, but if you need any sample streams, etc, just let me know and I'll gladly provide for testing.

Do you have an estimated timeline for release of 3.6?

    Kind Regards,

trungkaka165, can you please be more specific with your question? Is this a question? If so what problem are you having?
