Default Can StorageDir be used with hidden or admin shares?

We are moving our content folder from a secondary drive on the wowza server to an outside machine that has been setup with admin shares for our use. Haven't been able to get the share to work either as part of the StorageDir, or as part of the stream name.

    Attempt 1: -- FAILED
    Wowza Svr: dotscomsp1
    Application: vodmedia
    StorageDir: \\dotscosan04\bssomultimedia$\
    Server rtmp://dotscomsp1/vodmedia
    Stream test\video.flv

    Attempt 2: -- FAILED
    Wowza Svr: dotscomsp1
    Application: vodmedia
    StorageDir: \\dotscosan04\
    Server rtmp://dotscomsp1/vodmedia
    Stream bssomultimedia$\test\video.flv

    Attempt 3: -- WORKED
    Wowza Svr: dotscomsp1
    Application: vodmedia
    StorageDir: \\dotscosan04\
    Server rtmp://dotscomsp1/vodmedia
    Stream video.flv

    Hi there,

This sounds like a permissions issue.

Thanks for the MediaCache idea. On the permissions issue direction, is there a service account or something like them that needs to be added to the share for Wowza to use it? I seem to have overlooked that Wowza may need itself authorized, not just the viewers.

You might have to run Wowza using a network account with local admin or root privileges.

It must work, we also have a similar situation where we record audio files using asterisk server and wowza is on another server, we have mapped the folder into application's content directory and it works smoothly.
