Capture RTSP stream from IP Camera

Good morning,

I am attempting to capture a RTSP stream from an IP camera through Wowza. I followed this guide to do most of the setup.

https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-re-stream-video-from-an-ip-camera-rtsp-rtp-re-streaming

Here is the Application.xml file code we are using.

<Root>
	<Application>

For step 1.1 for Publishing the Stream I wasn’t sure what to put since the client hasn’t been able to get us the model of the device in question but I think this page helped figure it out. Is there a RTSP tester we can use to test

http://www.q-see.com/files/HowToFiles/QC-RTSP_setup.pdf

rtsp://wcf.myq-see.com:83/cam/realmonitor?channel=14&subtype=00&authbasic=user:pass

I can’t view the stream in the example players. Can anyone help troubleshoot or diagnose this?

Hi Frank, you will need the URL of the camera, and you need to create the camera.stream file to point to the the stream.

So once you have the IP address of the camera you will enter it into the camera.stream like this:

rtsp://[camera-ip-address]:port/app-name/stream-name
example: rtsp://192.168.1.00:1935/live/myStream

Salvadore

Frank, here is the manufactures documentation on finding out the IP address of the camera:

Salvadore

Hey Salvadore,

According to this page, http://www.q-see.com/files/HowToFiles/QC-RTSP_setup.pdf, this, rtsp://wcf.myq-see.com:83/cam/realmonitor?channel=14&subtype=00&authbasic=CREDENTIALS, is the rtsp stream for the ip camera. Will that not work? Also I did add this to a file of cam.stream in the content folder.

Using said method wont port forwarding be required?
