    Default Video aspect ratio incorrect at 640 x 360. Player video image has stretched width.

    I am using Gocoder V 1.1 with a Iphone 4S.

    Love it!

    When I select the setting 640 x 360 at i.e. 700k the image shown in de video player is to flat.

    Stretched width.

    The image in the iPhone screen is normal.

    When using setting 720p aspect ratio is fine too.

    I seems to be a setting in the app.

    Or can I change something in the settings myself?

    Setting is unusable like this.

    Thx.

    Hi there, what player are you using?
    Can you test this with Wowza FlashRTMPPlayer example? [install-dir]/examples/LiveVideoStreaming/FlashRTMPPlayer/player.html

    Hi Salvatore,

    I am using JW player 5 or 6.

    Streams with other encoders are fine.

    Local player has the same aspect problem with Gocoder stream.

    Any otger suggestions?

    Thx J

    You could try setting stretching to "exactfit"

    like this:
    <div id="myElement">Loading the player...</div>

    <script type="text/javascript">
        jwplayer("myElement").setup({
    'flashplayer': '/path to player.swf',
    'file': '/path to video.mp4',
     stretching:"exactfit",
    'width': '640',
    'height': '360',
        });
    </script>

    These are the options for the stretching var (uniform, fill, exactfit, none) you can try them to see if any of them remedy the problem.

    That did not help.
    Wish it did.

    It must be in the Gocoder because only the 640 x 360 setting has the problem.

    Does the Gocoder crop the video on top and bottom?

    I guess not.

    Hope it can be fixed?

    Thx

    It looked okay to me at that resolution in my test with generic JW Player setup:

    <html>
    <head>
    <title>JW Player 6</title>

    <script type="text/javascript" src="/jwplayer/jwplayer.js" ></script>
    <script>jwplayer.key="ddUlwPp6iJBECi5E2oonKLK7QrxGZxw/QTKNWw=="</script>
    </head>

    <body>

    <div id="player">Loading the player...</div>

    <script type="text/javascript">
        jwplayer("player").setup({
       	sources: [{
       			file: "rtmp://localhost/live/myStream"
            },{
                file: "http://localhost:1935/live/myStream/playlist.m3u8"
            }],
            rtmp: {
    		        bufferlength: 3
        },
        });
    </script>
    </body>
    </html>
    I focused the phone camera on a book cover, compared what the camera displayed with JW Player display, and saw no distortion

    Hi Richard,

    i tried your code but still have the same aspect ratio problem.

    Tried JW player 5 and 6 in Firefox an Safari on Mac.

    Did you check it on a PC maybe?

    It seems strange because it does not happen in the setting 720.

    What else can we do to fix it?

    Thx Jeroen

    I'm not sure why you would be having a problem. I tested playback with a Wowza example opened in Flash Builder so I can see metadata, which is correct:

    onMetaData
      displayHeight = 360
      videodatarate = 64
      audiodatarate = 64
      width = 640
      videocodecid = avc1
      height = 360
      rtpsessioninfo = [object Object]
      audiosamplerate = 44100
      frameWidth = 640
      frameHeight = 360
      audiochannels = 1
      audiocodecid = mp4a
      trackinfo = [object Object],[object Object]
      displayWidth = 640
    updateVideoSize: normal
