Default Video on demand works, Live Streaming is not (Trial Edition, 3.6.2, build 5334)

    Hi all,

I am using a trial edition that starts with the following signature:

    INFO server server-start Wowza Media Server 3 Trial Edition (Expires: Aug 13, 2013) 3.6.2 build5334 -

I can verify that the Wowza Media server has been properly and that RTMP is properly listening:

    tcp46 0 0 *.1935 *.* LISTEN

Nothing suspicious from what I can tell in the logs. I tried the VideoOnDemand example with sample.mp4 and it streamed just fine.

Now this might be a Wirecast issue, but when I try to broadcast with the following settings, I see nothing hitting the logs:

Since I'm on OSX, I ensured that there is a `live` directory created in /Library/WowzaMediaServer/applications/live in addition to /Library/WowzaMediaServer/conf/live/Application.xml. I downloaded the Application.xml directly from here and it contains the following contents: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/...pplication.xml

There are certainly no firewall issues, everything on the local machine is completely open. I ensured to restart the Wowza server after the directories/configs were added for the 'live' application. Any suggestions for further troubleshooting would be most welcome.

    Thanks much.

    Steve,

Your Wirecast and Wowza configuration looks correct.

Have you tried inserting the IP address of the server in place of localhost?

    Hey Tim,

I believe I'm talking to you in the e-mail support thread now, but just to confirm, the Wowza server and Wirecast are both being ran on the same machine, so localhost is fine. This is all on my local development machine currently.

Also just to confirm, I'm running tcpdump on the local interface over port 1935 and I do see traffic being generated by Wirecast -- it seems the issue is definitely local to Wowza as there is no response being generated by the Wowza server:

So I got things working. Instead of broadcasting to the local interface, eg: rtmp://localhost/live, I had to instead use the public interface, eg: rtmp://192.168.1.2/live. Even though Wowza bound all of its respective listeners on the local interface as well, it was dropping packets being published to that local interface. This was not the behavior however, when using the public interface. This is all on a local Mac OSX machine. I'd like to understand why that's the case, but it's working now either way.
