Default Three Wowza media servers running on EC2 instances behind EC2 loadbalancer

    Hi,

We will have an event scheduled in which we are expecting around 2500 to watch the live stream. Live stream is about 1000 Kbps. So I was thinking of turning up three wowza instances (mx2.4large). Give them feed through wirecast and put these three servers behind EC2 loadbalncer. And stream it using loadbalancer IP address.

    Something like this:

3 Wowza Servers on their own Elastic IPs <----TCP/1935----> Load Balancer on an Elastic IP <----TCP/1935----> flash-player-for-end-user

Do you think this solution will work? We do not have time to explore cloudfront solution.

Or which single EC2 instance type you think can support around 3 Gbps and 2500 concurrent sessions?

    Many thanks for your help.

    ILF Texas.

The way to do this is with the Live Stream Repeater (origin/edge), and the Wowza Load Balancer.

You wouldn't need as large of an instance for the origin since it is only handling one incoming stream (from encoder) and several outgoing streams (to edge servers)
