Thread: Limit on quality of RTMP-stream?

  1. #1

Question Limit on quality of RTMP-stream?

I was going through the docs, but couldn't find the answer to this.

Do Wowza have an upper limit to the quality that a live stream can be?
    Both for re-streaming and encoding?

The input streams would be >1080p.

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi There.

There is no limit on stream quality within Wowza, bandwidth throughput is usually the limiting factor.

    Great to hear!

Other solutions do have this limiting factor so it's a big plus for professional use

We routinely run high bitrate, high quality video and have no issues. The limiting factor is usually bandwidth at the transmit or receive sites.

I've hammered Wowza with a 40mbps transport streams and had folks on Verizon Fios watching with no issues. We routinely connect a handful of Insert Studio's around using our Wowza servers, they're usually sending us 720p60 at around 10-15mbps all day/night.
