Default Is RTMPE needed to support SecureToken?

    Hi all,

I've got a wowza media server (devpay) running on amazon EC2. I enabled secure token on both the flash client and the server following the manual provided by wowza ( How-to-protect-RTMP-streaming-using-SecureToken-(ModuleSecureToken) )

I've stopped and re started the wowza service and checked the wowza access_log, startup_log and error_log and no errors are found.

Besides the manual I did not make any other updates, so I'm still connecting from my flash client with the rtmp protocol: rtmp://[public-dns]/videochat

But, since this update, my flash client (which is updated as well) says "connection refused by server".

I didn't update the vods3 application yet and this one is still working fine, so the server seems to be okay.

Do I need to do something else in the flash client to get it back to work? Do I need to connect to the server using rtmpe?

    Kind Regards,
    Henkhenk

You probably have ModuleRequireSecureConnection enabled, or the requireSecureConnection Property set to "true". Remove whichever one you have and Wowza will allow the connection.

@Richard, you where right: the requireSecureConnection Property was set to "true", I turned it to "false" now .

Still it doesn't work so I've been investigating a bit more. It seems that when the broadcaster is establishing the connnection, the paramater "secureToken" is "undefined".

Say e is the event object, then if I check for e.info.secureToken, I get undefined message.

    What am I doing wrong?

    Thanks,
    Henkhenk

    Henkhenk,

You have to add the secure token to the RTMP player and re-compile. This shows how to do Add SecureToken to JW Player

    Hi Richard,

Thanks again. I've recompiled the client but this doesn't fix the problem. I do not use JW player by the way, but extracted the code from the videochat example delivered with wowza.

I did found a new error in my access log which I think can indicate what the problem is:
"ModuleSecureToken.onConnect: action before response received: kill connection: clientId:1232581923"

Searching for this error in Google doesn't return much result.

@Richard: do you have a suggestion once more ?

    Thanks,
    Henkhenk

This just means the client did not send the token Wowza requires with SecureToken enabled. So something is not working on the client-side. What bit did you edit? Can you step through the code, or write some trace statements to see what is happening?
