Live audio input via USB - possible?

We are hoping to stream live audio (mic and music) to smart devices via our local on-site server then over a closed wlan network. The audio comes in to the server via USB mix desk. We think that we now need to point the network controller needs to the server (e.g 10.0.0.3/???) so devices can in turn, be directed to that URL. Is that is possible?

Hi,

Are you saying you have a device which plugs into your PC via USB and this device captures audio (in the same way a USB camera does audio and video).

You then want to play this audio stream through a smart phone or tablet using Wowza? Can you capture the stream using an encoder which will then push the stream to Wowza and then this can be distributed.

There are several encoders which you could use to push the stream to Wowza where it can be distributed to the devices you wish to support.

Hi Jason,

Thats correct. We have a Alesis Mix desk into the server via USB. We used Adobe Flash Media Live Encoder and distributing/streaming to devices that log onto our WLAN (via a Ruckus AP). Its all working! But their is serious delay (30secs) between the live music (from mix desk) and hearing it on the device. We are in a relatively live situation so we can handle 2-3secs… Which part is causing that much delay would you think?
