Default jwplayer.smil broken

    Hi @all,

    I want to publish a RTMP/HLS livestream via Longtailvideos JWPlayer 6 and Wowza server, version 3.1.2.
    It's a multibitrate stream from a FMLE.

    So I created a new Wowza application (let's call it teststream) and a corresponding SMIL file mystream.smil in the application storage dir with a content like

    <smil>

            <switch>

            </switch>

    </smil>
    When I then try to access http://wowzaserverurl:1935/teststrea.../manifest.m3u8, everything is fine and I get a result like

    #EXTM3U
    #EXT-X-VERSION:3
    #EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1,BANDWIDTH=577536
    chunklist-b577536.m3u8?wowzasessionid=852469151
    #EXT-X-STREAM-INF:PROGRAM-ID=1,BANDWIDTH=423936
    chunklist-b423936.m3u8?wowzasessionid=852469151
    When I request http://wowzaserverurl:1935/teststrea...l/jwplayer.rss, the content is also as expected, similar to

mystream.smil

mystream.smil

    <jwplayer:streamer>rtmp://wowzaserverurl:1935/teststream/_definst_</jwplayer:streamer>
    <media:group>

    </media:group>

    However, when I try to request http://wowzaserverurl:1935/teststrea.../jwplayer.smil, I only get the single-line Wowza server version HTML output. I expected something like

    <smil>

            <switch>

            </switch>

    </smil>
    There are no entries in the wowza_error.log. Has anybody experienced a similar issue or do you have a hint for me where the reason for this behavior might be? I do not find a separate HttpProvider entry for the jwplayer.smil in my VHost.xml. Or do I have to upgrade the Wowza server version to a newer release in order to use this functionality?

    Thanks in advance

    Andre

    Hi,

    Wowza added support for the jwplayer.smil url in 3.5.0. If you are running an earlier version then you will not have it.

    The current version is 3.6.2 and I would suggest updating to that and it would also be advisable to apply the latest patch.

    Thanks for the clarification, Roger.

    Before, I only saw the note at http://www.wowza.com/forums/content....a-Media-Server that Wowza server version 3.0.3.08 or later is required. So I've got the explanation now I was looking for .)
