Thread: stream frame rate could not be calculated

  1. #1

    Default stream frame rate could not be calculated

    seeing this error every 2 seconds in our logs

    TranscoderWorkerVideoDecoder.handlePacket[_defaultVHost_:WPTlive/_definst_/myStream]: Source stream frame rate could not be calculated. Using default source stream frame rate: 29.97

    The encoder is a Liveshell Pro box, which works great when we use it directly for live streams, not transcoding. It should be set to 29.97, or maybe 30, keyframes every 2 seconds. This has been going on for a while, the stream is running fine, even the tanscoded streams. It's just filling up logs and it may be one reason our server's memory use is gradually going up.

    looking a the source, I get this

    <video src="mp4:myStream_source" system-bitrate="2139136" width="1280" height="720">
    <param name="audioBitrate" value="91136" valuetype="data" />
    <param name="videoBitrate" value="2048000" valuetype="data" />
    <param name="videoCodecId" value="avc1.100.31" valuetype="data" />
    <param name="audioCodecId" value="mp4a.40.2" valuetype="data" />
    </video>
    but since I have no access to the encoder, I have to take the user by his word that he's got it all set up properly.

    should I be concerned about this? Can we fix this? Is the hardware not suitable for the transcoder?

    When using wirecast, the transcoder mountpoint doesn't have these issues.

    Default

    You can use this method to tell fix missing frame rate .

    You may still see these messages, but I don't think they could be a problem.

    Default

    yeah, now it tells me

    TranscoderWorkerVideoDecoder.handlePacket[_defaultVHost_:WPTlive/_definst_/myStream]: Source stream frame rate could not be calculated. Using default source stream frame rate: 30.0

    instead of 29.97, which at least is the correct frame rate. However, 12MB of errors per day being logged in both, access and error log, one every 2 seconds.
