    Question Stream Class streams with only livestream in playlist hangs wowza when livestream dow

    We have a playlist smil defined with only 1 livestream in it with repeat set to true.
    When we play the stream defined in the playlist, and the livestream is already running, it works fine
    The moment the livestream is shutoff, since repeat is set to true - it constantly tries to loop the playlist and hangs the wowza server so that even if we restart the livestream, the wowza server does not receive it since so much is going on.

    <playlist name="pl1" playOnStream="Stream1" repeat="true" scheduled="2009-12-11 16:00:00">
    <video src="arpan" start="-2" length="-1"/>

    How can we add a delay or something so it doesn't lock up the wowza server when this playlist is running but no livestream source is available?
    We want to still try to play the livestream when it comes back on as it is already doing, but with some delay or some other way so it doesnt try hundreds of times within 1 minute essentially locking the wowza server up

    Thank you

    This might be a better solution for you:

    We do not want the stream showing something else though like a filler

    Hi Arpan,

    There was a bug in the Stream Class that would cause this and it was fixed in one of the early 3.6.2 patches. Please update your Wowza version to the latest patch available here.

    If your current wowza version is older than the current base version then you will need to update to the current base version before applying the patch. An update is available from here, that will update any 3.x.x version to the latest 3.x.x version (currently 3.6.2). Please also refer to the upgrade guide on this page for info on changes that you may need to be aware of.

    Before the update, when the problem occurred, a lot of extra information will have been logged to the log files and they will be extremely large and can fill up the disk very quickly. I suggest deleting any large log files from your logs directory before updating.

    This update will fix the CPU load problem that is associated with the missing streams and it will reduce the logging rate slightly but not completely.

    A couple of weeks ago, a new version of the Stream scheduler that you are using was released. I suggest that you download the latest copy of the from here, and replace your current lib/wms-plugin-collection.jar file with the one in the download.

    The new version fixed a few other bugs and also added some new functionality. Please refer to the new instructions.

    Once you have confirmed that everything is working correctly, you can turn off the switch logging completely using a property in the Server.xml or Application.xml.
