Thread: HLS doesn't like attachCamera after publish

  1. Default HLS doesn't like attachCamera after publish

Here's an issue that has been bothering me for quite some time now. I'm working on a video conferencing system in Flex/AS3 that uses Wowza in the background. When a participant joins the conference, I create a NetConnection and a NetStream for that connection; and as soon as the user clicks the "Microphone" button, I attach the mic (NetStream.attachAudio) and start publishing to Wowza (NetStream.publish)

Now, say that halfway the conference the participant decides to turn on his video, he clicks the "Camera" button and since he's already publishing to Wowza, I only call NetStream.attachCamera. This works perfectly in Flash clients (RTMP connections)

For HLS, it's different. It works fine for as long as the participant only broadcasts audio, but when he starts sending video and the NetStream.attachCamera is called; the video player on the viewer side stops playing audio and shows "Loading..." indefinitely. Tested this on OSx / Safari with iOS Player example that comes with Wowza, as well as with a simple html5 video tag on iOS6 and iOS7.

Anyone knows any tips or tricks?

PS: I use the Transcoder AddOn to convert SPEEX to AAC, running Wowza 3.6.2 build 5334 on Ubuntu

EDIT: Obviously Wowza recognizes the video coming in, see the excerpt from the log (don't mind the extremely cryptic stream names, it's auto-generated). Is this something that's just too much for QuickTime to handle?

For those who are struggling with the same or similar problems: The solution for my case was change a setting as described here: http://www.wowza.com/forums/content....ansport-stream
