Thread: Live Dynamic Streaming via RTMP. Is it possible?

Question Live Dynamic Streaming via RTMP. Is it possible?

We're using RTMP for live streaming, encoding via FMLE (Flash Media Live Encoder), using a single bit-rate. Now, we would like to stream a live multi-bitrate video (FMLE allows us to do that) and have our custom-built player (in developed in Flex) to be able to dynamicaly and seamlessly switch to different versions, based on the end user's capabilities.

At there is a quite comprehensive explanation on how to achieve that using Action Script. However, that guide was developed having Flash Media Server in mind, not Wowza Media Server.

My question is: can I apply those very same concepts if I would develop that to a Wowza-based scenario? I would expect it to work, but I'd like to know if someone else has ever done this, before jumping into it. Is dynamic streaming via RTMP doable using Wowza?

    Thanks in advance!

Please take a look at this article to see how it is done using JWPlayer:
See the RTMP Dynamic Streaming and HLS ABR section from that article.

Also, make sure you go through the adaptive streaming tutorial, available here:
