Default Smil file on public folder

    Hi,

Is it possible to put the smil file for dynamic streaming in a public folder. For example http://mysite.com/streams/mysmil.smil

I want JW player to load that smil file.

    Thanks

Take a look at the 2nd example in the JW Player guide, which is using this convenience method to leverage the server-side smil in JW Player

    Hi,

Thanks for your quick reply but I did not find anything on the article you point me to.

Are you refering to RTMP Dynamic Streaming and HLS ABR or metadata for an RTMP stream?

both code samples (to my understanding) uses the smil file stored on wowza server content folder and not a smil file on a public folder. i.e http://mysite.com/public_html/mysmilfile.smil

If I miss something please enlighten me.

    Thanks

Right, I see. In that case you can just point to the .smil file on any public web server in the JW Player HTML container, in the setup script:

    file: "http://[your-web-server]/yourSmil.smil"

Make sure you have set the proper MIME type (which is "text/xml") in your web server for .smil extension
