    Red face Struggelig setting up players (JW / Flow) streaming LIVE from Cloudfront

    Hello guys! Bernie from Oslo here.

    I'm struggling to get the players working. Have really tried searching both this forum and JW / Flowplayer for a good tutorial. Needless to say I didn't get it to work :/ So sorry for double posting if this scenario already have beed addressed previously.

    Hopefully someone in here have done this before, and can give me a hand.

    1) I have the Cloudfront up and running. OK
    2) Have tested the stream on Wowza test page (Flash). OK : http://www.wowza.com/resources/3.6.0...er/player.html
    3) Have tested the stream on iOS device. OK

    THE GOAL is to have our website supporting multiple enduser devices (Desktop, iOS, Android) with dynamic streaming (multiple bitrate possibilities?).

    This is the code found on JW Player site
    <div id="myElement"></div>

    <script>
        jwplayer("myElement").setup({
          playlist: [{
            image: "/uploads/myPoster.jpg",
            sources: [{
              file: "/uploads/myManifest.smil"
            },{
              file: "/uploads/myFallback.mp4"
            }]
          }],
          primary: "flash"
        });
    </script>
    Source: http://www.longtailvideo.com/support...dynamic-stream

    What exact variables from my CloudFormations Stacks Output am I to put where?

    I hope Im not being to much of a nOOb asking for help here.

    Happy december 1st!

    B

    Hi,

    Using the article you have mentioned, you are configuring JWPlayer to connect to the RTMP stream. You cannot use Wowza + Cloudfront to deliver your RTMP stream. Only HTTP based streams will work (Apple HLS, Adobe HDS and Smoothstream).

    Using JWPlayer, it is possible to play- back the Apple HLS stream in the Flash player, but you will need to use their "Premium" license - http://www.jwplayer.com/pricing/
    In order to use HTTP streaming with Flowplayer, please take a look at this article from their site, explaining how to do that: http://flash.flowplayer.org/plugins/...streaming.html
    You will be using the Adobe HDS stream provided by Wowza and distributed through Cloudfront.

    I hope this helps.

    Thanks Zoran, thanks for your reply!

    I purchased the Premium license for JWPlayer and will have a go at that.

    Basically I want to stream to all 3 types of devices (desktop, ios and android) and think I need a script that provides fallback form one to another depending on the device accessing the page.

    I understand you are not JW Support :S but do you have a code/page with that kind of script I can use as example?
    I just don't seem to get my head around this either on this site or Longtail.
    Hopefully I'll be a happy streamer in the near future

    Best regards

    Thanks guys!

    This little thing did the trick it seems. Using HTML5 as default, fallback to Flash, and a redirect if on an older Android.

    http://www.longtailvideo.com/support...tive-streaming

    <div id="player">
    <a href="rtsp://[CLOUDFRONTDOMAINNAME]/livecf/myStream">Android fallback</a>
    </div>
    <script type="text/javascript">
    jwplayer("player").setup({
    file: "http://[CLOUDFRONTDOMAINNAME]/livecf/myStream/playlist.m3u8",
    width: "100%",
    aspectratio: "16:9",
    ga: {}
    });
    </script>

    Maybe some other newbie stumbles upon the same issue I had and saves a few hours.

    WOWZA Here I come!

    Hi,

    You can also take a look here for an embed example: http://www.wowza.com/forums/showthre...a-transcoder#3

    Just a quick remark about your fallback to RTSP. You'll have to provide the Wowza RTSP link, because Cloudfront distribution will only work HTTP streaming protocols.
    There is no delivery of RTSP streams through Cloudfront.
