Thread: LiveStreamRecord write buffer

  1. Default LiveStreamRecord write buffer

I'm working on an application that will record a lot of streams concurrently, and I'm investigating ways to manage efficiency. Is there a configuration property for the live stream recorder to set the size of the write buffer? From what I can glean from iotop, it looks to default to about 5 seconds.

    Hi Jay,

The file writing is performed by a Java RandomAccessFile class. There is no configurable write buffer involved.

It opens a file in write mode and just writes the packets to it sequentially as they become available from the source stream. Ultimately, it is the OS that controls how fast the writing is performed and it will be affected by disk caches.
