    Default Transcoding multiple streams

Looking at wowza to be a potential solution for stream transcoding but I am not sure what hardware I need to meet the requirements. We are looking to transcode multiple MPEG2 streams from DVB-S to H.264 to reduce bandwidth requirements.

What sort of horsepower do I need in order to transcode(mpeg2 or mpeg4 to H.264) let's say 20 streams simultaneously with Wowza?

Please take a look at the Wowza Transcoder benchmark article to get an idea of what different server configurations are capable of handling:

Thank you. I have gone through that and it seems like i need some serious hardware to do 10+ streams.
Server 3 setup with CUDA graphics card has the best performance for trancoding 10 streams. Also, I am not able to find what CUDA card was used for testing?

Does OS really matter in this case?

According to the Hardware and driver requirements of the Transcoder, NVIDIA CUDA accelerated encoding is only supported on Windows.
