    Default Linux named pipes (fifo)

I have an application that is writting to a named pipe. If I use ffmpeg to push this named pipe to wowza everything is works well.

Ideally I would like to be able to call the named pipe from Wowza, this way I don't have to rely on ffmpeg (seems to be adding another step not required), is it possiable for wowza to process a named pipe or will I have to use ffmpeg? I have tried to play the named pipe with wowza but it's showing 00:00 and not playing, I guess this is because it's expecting a real file. I have also tried changing the applcation to be live but this isn't working either.

    Many Thanks

What is the source stream? If it's http you'll need to continue using ffmpeg (or alternatively something like vlc).
