Default Java Out of memory error

Hello. Wowza is crashing with the following error lately "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: GC overhead limit exceeded" This stopped happening for several months but was happening much earlier, so we increased the JVM memory limit to 10GB now I'm not sure if we should increase to 12GB or if there is something else going on. We are using: Wowza Media Server 3.6.2.10 build6427

Have you followed the tuning guide?

That would be the first thing to do to help troubleshoot.

Yes, and it suggested not setting the heap size greater than 10GB so since we have 64GB on this machine I maxed it out at 10GB. However we are still seeing the Out Of Memory crash. Against the recommendation, I have set it to 12GB now. I hope that doesn't cause issues. But I think Wowza has a memory leak!

What type of streaming are you doing?
What is the load on the server?
Are there any custom modules involved?

They are edge servers for Live streams. Incoming H264/AAC feeds via Wowz protocol (about 60 streams in total) and output is HLS. Streams are about 700 Kbps on average.

About 100-120 concurrently connected users. About 70-80 Mbps output.

    No custom modules.

Server is a dedicated machine hosted in a proper data center.

CPU is Intel Xeon E5-1650 (6 cores)

    64GB DDR3

    120GB Intel SSD Drive

    CPU is averaging under 20%

    Memory is about 30% used.

I suggest opening a ticket at this point.

Please delete current logs [install-dir]/logs/access & error logs

Then re-start Wowza and run until the error occurs. Zip up /conf and /log folders and send to support@wowza.com. Please also include a link to this thread for reference.
