Thread: nDVR IPcamera recommended settings

  1. Default nDVR IPcamera recommended settings

    Hi,

I'm planning to setup a CCTV environment. For that I'm using 2 IP camera now ( Dahua and Hikvision) ( cameras will be increased later). I have setup nDVR application in the server and my current server spec is

    Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2630L 0 @ 2.00GHz - 4 core
    1 Gb/sec network
    8 GB Ram

Could someone please let me know the wowza recommended IP camera settings if any like Resolution, Frame rate, Bit rate type( CBR , VBR ), Bit rate, I frame interval

Please let me know if you want any other information additionally.

    Thanks

It depends on what you are doing. If you are transcoding you'll want to a high quality (bitrate, frame size, fps) source to transcode. I would choose VBR over CBR if that is the only choice, or a constrained VBR if that is available, i.e. VBR within limits. It is a good idea to have a fixed gop (I frame interval) and FPS setting that is half that (e.g. 48gop, 24fps): 2 second key frame frequency, which is ideal for HTTP stream types.
