Default STB Unable to play stream recorded by Wowza 4

    Hi,

We are in the process of upgrading our deployment from wowza 3 to wowza 4.
All our applications have been migrated and most systems keep working fine.

We are now experiencing an issue regarding playing back a recorded video from wowza, where it does not work on STBs.
To make it clear this is what works:
    * Stream Live Feed to STB using LiveSmoothStreaming
    * Stream and Record Live Feed to STB using LiveSmoothStreaming
    * Stream (custom)VOD to STB using SmoothStreaming

And this is what is not currently working:
    * Stream Recorded VOD to STB using SmoothStreaming

Has something changed from v3 to v4, regarding session recording?
Any ideas on why could the STB not accept the SmoothStreaming stream?

    Thanks in advance,
    Filipe

Hi there, is the file am .mp4, or .flv?
Where is the file located and what is the playback URL your are using?

One change in Wowza 4 is the default prefix has been changed from .flv to .mp4. I don't think this is the issue in your case but it may be.

I can tell you that it is not used .flv for sure.

    Thanks for the quick reply!

The solution currently records to a shared location on the file system, i.e.: "/var/tmp".
For playback, we changed the content location of the default vod application to the folder and it works correctly with external videos.
The issue occurs when we try to play an mp4 file recorded by wowza.

    Playback url: http://wowza-ip:1935/vod/file.mp4/Manifest

Any .mp4 file recorded by Wowza from a live stream that played back in Silverlight, should play back as vod in Silverlight. Do you have a sample? If you don't want to post it here, send it to support@wowza.com and we'll take a look at it. Include a link to this thread for reference. Send the smallest sample file you have.
