How to give time in smpte instead of normal play time in RTSP/RTP streaming.

Dear Sir,

Is it possible to do that?

How should I configure my Wowza Media Server?

Thanks,

Phillip Lee.

Hi,

Currently, the SMPTE broadcast standard time code is not supported.

Hi,

I believe you can only specify a start time and end time for HTTP clients using the article below.

How to specify a play start time and duration for HTTP streaming

We do not provide a way to do this for RTMP or RTSP clients.

Jason

Hi

You can use the following article as a starting point for writing custom code to specify a start time and end time for RTMP clients server-side.

How to insert a pre-roll or mid-roll for video on demand playback in Flash RTMP client

Alternatively this can be done on the RTMP client itself.

It’s not possible to specify a start time and end time for RTSP clients.

Jason

Hi,

That’s correct, to my knowledge we support normal play time only.

Dear Sir,

What about ‘clock’ format like the below?

Is it supported ?

C->S: PLAY rtsp://audio.example.com/meeting.en RTSP/1.0

CSeq: 835

Session: 12345678

Range: clock=19961108T142300Z-19961108T143520Z

Thanks,

Phillip Lee.

Hi,

Three kinds of time formats are possible with RTSP.

They are SMPTE Relative Timestamps, Normal Play time, and Absolute time.

Do you mean that Wowza media server supports only Normal Play time among them?

Am I right?

Regards,

Phillip.

Hi,

You said that according to your knowledge.

I’m wondering whether it is formal across your company.

Phillip.
