Thread: Possible bug with recording

    Default Possible bug with recording

When a live application is enabled to record all incoming streams it seems the recording gets corrupt if:

1.) You start the encoder and streaming to server.
2.) then you notice you need to adjust bitrate.
3.) and stop the recording, make the change and restart the encoder.
4.) Wowza will correctly close the file made thus far, but the newly created file will have a name like MyStream_X.mp4 and will be without header.

Can that headerless file be fixed? Can something be configured to avoid it?

Thank you for posting. Do you have any log statements that might tell us what's happening, server side, when this occurs?

It is normal for Wowza to append the recording, when configured to do so.

Please post some log statements here, or send an email to and include a reference to this post along with a copy of the following files as a .zip (or other archive):

Actually, I got a possible recording bug too.

    1) Start recording a live streaming by Wowza API
    2) Updating the linux date, from 19:00 to 18:30 (when clock with delay from 18:30 to 19:00 is ok, nothing is happening)
    3) Recording ends, no log errors or application crash

Sometimes, Wowza restart is required for recording run well again.

Please open a ticket by sending an email to
Include a very detailed description of what steps are required to replicate the issue, a link to this thread for reference and a zipped copy of the following directories.
Please do make sure you provide logs which show Wowza server starting.

If you are not sure how to get this information please see the following tutorial.
