Wowza Streaming Server 4.0.6 service not getting started

Hi,

I installed WowzaStreamingEngine-4.0.6 but I couldn’t able to start the service.

It’s throwing a error message as,

'Windows could not start the Wowza Streaming Engine 4.0.6 service on Local Computer.

The service did not return an error. This could be an internal Windows error or an internal service error.

If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.’

I’m using windows 7 ultimate and its 64 bit OS. I installed java version “1.7.0_67” and followed the steps in the link,

https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-install-and-configure-wowza-streaming-engine

https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-manually-install-and-troubleshoot-java-on-your-wowza-media-server

I tried many times uninstall and reinstalling the java and wowza server but nopthing worked for me.

Can you please help me on this?

Hi,

There are two logs that show Windows service startup progress for Wowza Streaming Engine:

[install-dir]/bin/batch.log

[install-dir]/manager/bin/batch.log

Post the contents here, as they might highlight the problem.

Hi,

Did you try restarting the server after the changing the JAVA_HOME variable?

Sometimes that can help if old values still appear to be used.

Hi,

After following this link, https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-start-and-stop-wowza-streaming-engine-software, I was able to start my wowza server in standalone mode but not as a service and its throwing the error as,

'Windows could not start the Wowza Streaming Engine 4.0.6 service on Local Computer.

The service did not return an error. This could be an internal Windows error or an internal service error.

If the problem persists, contact your system administrator.’

Both the log file contains the same error,

startup.bat: runmode=service

setenv.bat: JAVA_HOME is set incorrectly?. “C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.7.0_07”

But I installed Java version 1.7.0_67 and mentioned the JAVA_HOME path as, C:\Program Files\Java\jre7

I followed from this link, https://www.wowza.com/docs/how-to-manually-install-and-troubleshoot-java-on-your-wowza-media-server

Am I missing anything?

Yet I couldn’t resolve the issue of staring the Wowza server as a service . Can you please help on this? Do you need any more details?
