    Default jwplayer.smil file and Labels

    When using the Transcoder we make use the of the Stream name ngrp and the ability to specific something like ngrp:sm_all/jwplayer.smil to feed JWPlayer 6 all of the transcoded bitrates.

    The problem we have is that inside of JWplayer the labels it uses are the Width setting. So if I do the following generated jwplayer.smil

    <smil>
    <head>
    <meta base="rtmp://removed for privacy/_definst_"/>
    </head>
    <body>
    <switch>
    <video src="mp4:sm_2064" system-bitrate="2139136" width="1280" height="720" />
    <video src="mp4:sm_1264" system-bitrate="1265536" width="1280" height="720" />
    <video src="mp4:sm_864" system-bitrate="865536" width="960" height="540" />
    <video src="mp4:sm_364" system-bitrate="465536" width="640" height="360" />
    </switch>
    </body>
    </smil>

    The bit rate options in jwplayer will be 720, 720, 540, 360. I would prefer to be able to have them called High Definition, High Quality, Medium Quality, Low Quality.

    The forums at JWplayers site suggest that their player supports the title element in the smil standard. So if the Smil is the following

    <smil>
    <head>
    <meta base="rtmp://origin1.nc.prolibraries.com/digitell_origin_tc2/_definst_"/>
    </head>
    <body>
    <switch>
    <video src="mp4:sm_2064" system-bitrate="2139136" width="1280" height="720" title=“High Definition”/>
    <video src="mp4:sm_1264" system-bitrate="1265536" width="1280" height="720" title=“High Quality”/>
    <video src="mp4:sm_864" system-bitrate="865536" width="960" height="540" title="Medium Quality”/>
    <video src="mp4:sm_364" system-bitrate="465536" width="640" height="360" title=“Low Quality” />
    </switch>
    </body>
    </smil>

    JW Player would pick up the Title tag and use that for the Bit rate switching options on the control bar.

    So my question is. Is there anything that can be added to the trascoder template as shown below that would add that title to the generated smil file.

    Hi,
    As you're aware this is not currently available but I will add this as a feature request to our backlog on your behalf. Features which are added to our backlog are reviewed and considered for future versions of Wowza Streaming Engine.
    At this time I can't confirm if the feature will be approved and if so, any time-scales for it's availability.

    Thanks for the feedback.

    Regards,
    Jason
