nDVR playlist file available after encoding stops

I have a long event (3+ hours) that the client wants to stream using DVR, and they want people to be able to watch from the beginning even 2-3 hours after start time. I’ve set nDVR to present all available content. This works fine. I’ve tested stopping my encoder, and the DVR stream continues to play as long as I don’t reload the window. As soon as I do, it asks for the playlist file again, and Wowza doesn’t have it, so the stream can’t play (even though the .ts segments are on the server).

Is there a way to trick Wowza into thinking the live event is still active and the playlist file should be preserved? I don’t need to add new segments to the playlist, just keep the full thing around after the encoder stops sending new content. If setting a fixed window will preserve the playlist file for a fixed amount of time, I can do that, but in my testing, it doesn’t make a difference.

If you are using ?DRM at the end of the stream url, then the player should just reload whatever was recorded by Wowza nDRM during the live stream. This would be after the stream and recording have already stopped.

Which player are you using.

I have been testing with the Demo JW Player here: http://demo.jwplayer.com/developer-tools/http-stream-tester/

Run your stream ULR through there and see if it works for you then.
