Sharing a live stream with non-technical people

Good morning,

We have a several dozen cameras within our city’s network, all inside our security VLAN. I have a select few cameras that send a second stream to Wowza for public viewing on the website.

Several of the local weather stations in Indianapolis would like to use these camera views in their broadcasts and our Mayor is hip to see that happen. I have tried working with the news stations to provide our live views and they are not able to do so. They have a blank field in their broadcast software that they normally enter a URL and… “it just works.” They know nothing more than that.

I asked for examples of what they use and I was provided with several, they are all direct AXIS camera connections such as this one, http://156.56.7.251/axis-cgi/mjpg/video.cgi.

Has anyone else worked with this type of thing? I am not certain exactly how, or if, I can configure Wowza to provide a feed for them that will work.

Thanks,

DAve

Axis cameras use RTSP for data delivery. Their HTTP link is to the interface based playback, however they need to use the appropriate RTSP URL for their camera. There is a substantial list of AXIS camera URLs over at Soleratec.

If you connect Wowza Streaming Engine to the camera and you are losing packets you will then need to change the transport mode to interleaved.
