Europe’s Largest Independent CDN TV1.EU Expands Reach With Wowza Media Server 2

EVERGREEN, CO., September 8, 2010—Wowza Media Systems® today announced that TV1.EU has implemented Wowza Media Server® 2 to enable expansion of its content delivery network (CDN) to all mobile devices including iPhone®, iPad™, HTC, and Blackberry®, as well as to the latest Internet-connected flat-panel televisions. A longtime Wowza customer, TV1.EU relied on an earlier version of Wowza Media Server to provide Flash® streaming.

“Our clients want the maximum exposure for their videos, which means content delivery to as many devices as possible,” said Johann Soukup, TV1.EU chief technology officer. “With Wowza Media Server 2, we are able to offer streaming to an expanded array of screens and, better yet, to do so cost effectively without suffering through an expensive infrastructure upgrade. By supporting us in our efforts to offer outstanding service to clients, Wowza helps us differentiate ourselves from the competition and stay a step ahead.”

TV1.EU, Europe’s largest independent platform for audio and video distribution via IP, delivers media for innovative enterprises and leading brands worldwide, including Deutsche Welle, the European Commission, Europe by Satellite, Loewe, Volkswagen, Munich International Trade Fairs, the German Touring Car Championship, Brose, TechData, and the German Parliament.

Wowza Media Server 2 is a unified media server software platform. It enables fast, cost-effective delivery of a high volume of audio and video content over IP networks, either public or private, to desktop/laptop computers (Web TV), mobile phones/tablets (mobile TV), or IP set-top boxes (IPTV). By supporting improved economies of scale and reduced encoding, storage, and management expense, Wowza Media Server 2 makes it possible for a wide variety of users, including CDNs, to save money, improve efficiency, and streamline infrastructure.
