MP4 over RTSP

Hi,

I’m currently investigating for the kind of server that we need. We re going to need a server which can live stream mp4 files over RTSP, and preferrably archive what it live streams as well. I’m not sure if Wowza can do this, it seems that it can only live stream mp4 via RTMP. Is this correct?

Wowza can stream MP4 over RTSP without an issue. You do need to make sure the destination device can understand the codec etc so it is playable.

You can configure Wowza to record automatically by setting the StreamType to live-record in the specific application, although there are other more appropriate recording modules which can date time the recording as well.
