I tried out your solution but it hasnt worked for me. One thing I would like to point out is : whether the soleratec list comprehensive?

Secondly, is it possible that some of the ipcams available in the market may not provide rtsp endpoint for external use at all? Like what am facing with Dlink - DCS 933L? It can clear out lot of doubts in my mind if you can address this. Cos I have been breaking my head over this for good part of the week - just want to know if am getting anywhere or not. I’ll perhaps go for another model if thats the case.

Also, I am able to view my stream on http://192.168.2.7 under dlinks firmware setup (they are using applets so all i could find was video.cgi). Can this be put to use for our purpose?

Like I said earlier, I purchased a new model from Dlink which is DCS-930L and as luck would have it : am facing the exact same issues as I did wth DCS-933L. Rtsp URL just doesnt work, the only workable url i could find was http://IPADDRESS/video.cgi and with that link I could watch the stream on VLC however I cant make it work on wowza. Do help me out here, am slowly getting frustrated with the whole re-streaming process.

You bailed me out here mate, I just browsed through DCS 930L’s datasheet and DCS 942L’s datasheet and I see what you are saying and I’ll give it a shot. As an alternate approach though, I tried fixing up 930’s video.cgi url inside VLC and asked VLC to transcode and provide me with RTSP URL which I planned to feed it to Wowza. Didnt work, any reasons known? Or was approach fundamentally wrong? Do let know if you can tell. I’ll meanwhile definitely order 942 asap.
