    Default How Wowza can switch from primary to backup when stream registered in StartupStreams?

    Hello.

    We have 2 licensed wowza servers. Origin and edge.
    We have 2 channels between them: inner and outer (by inet).

    According to this arcticle I want to use our channels from the StartupStreams.xml to solve problem with Request Timeout on cupertino stream.

    Sometimes our inner channel down and we've use outer channel.

    What I have to read in *.stream file that wowza automatically switches from inner channel to outer channel?

    For example:

    in my StartupStreams.xml:

    <StartupStream>
    <Application>live/_definst_</Application>
    <MediaCasterType>rtp</MediaCasterType>
    <StreamName>myChannel.stream</StreamName>
    </StartupStream>

    in \Wowza Media Server\content\myChannel.stream:

    rtsp://inner_ip:1935/app_name/myChannel
    rtsp://outer_ip:1935/app_name/myChannel

    Is it right metod or I need to use another one?

    Thanks a lot!

    Hi Denis,

    I think stream failover in a .stream file only works for live-repeater, but not for rtsp according to my test.

    At present this is the way to achieve failover:

    Default

    Hi, Salvadore!

    We have 2 servers. On both of them Wowza Media Server 3.1.2.16 build3037

    On our origin server:

    <Streams>
    <StreamType>liverepeater-origin</StreamType>
    <LiveStreamPacketizers>cupertinostreamingpacketizer, sanjosestreamingpacketizer, smoothstreamingpacketizer</LiveStreamPacketizers>
    </Streams>
    On our edge server:

    <Streams>
    <StreamType>liverepeater-edge</StreamType>
    <LiveStreamPacketizers>sanjosestreamingrepeater,cupertinostreamingrepeater,smoothstreamingrepeater</LiveStreamPacketizers>
    </Streams>

    <Repeater>
    <OriginURL>wowz://inner_ip:1935/app_name|wowz://outer_ip:1935/app_name</OriginURL>
    <QueryString><![CDATA[]]></QueryString>
    </Repeater>
    inner_ip - is inner IP of the Origin server.
    outer_ip - is outer IP of the Origin server.

    Thanks!
